the story behind my DOT
My blog is inspired by a children's story - "The Dot", by Peter Reynolds. This story tells the story of a reluctant student who tells her teacher that she can't draw. Vashti stubbornly signs a minuscule dot. As she gains confidence, her dot paintings become increasingly complex and creative. Eventually she hosts a dot painting exhibition and convinces another reluctant child to take the plunge into visual arts with his very own minuscule dot. Vashti's story relates to my own exploration of the Fine Arts.

Nicola, you should bring the book, The Dot into class. I think a lot people may be interested in reading it and perhaps using it in their classrooms one day, especially if they have students who feel the same way.
Yes, I think there is an important lesson in this book for blossoming artists like Nicola and for anyone wanting to learn to inspire others by helping them build on their strengths...even when the "strengths" are small! Great idea to name your blog and your own journey for this book, Nicola.
Now I see a theme in your thinking this term...the "dot" is about changing your own self-talk and helping others to change theirs!
